Trial by jury is a fundamental part of the American system of justice and is a right guaranteed under the Constitution of the State of Pennsylvania and the Constitution of the United States. To preserve this right it is essential that the court establish and maintain a well-functioning system for the selection and utilization of jurors.
If you have been called to jury duty, you will serve under the One Day – One Trial System. This means that instead of calling jurors for one week, you are required to serve one day or the length of one trial. At the end of the day or trial, your jury obligation has been fulfilled for three years.
